Unseasonal rainfall in parts of South Gujarat

Dang: Parts of South Gujarat, including Saputara and Valsad, experience a sudden change in weather with unseasonal rainfall. Dark clouds filled the skies, bringing rain to both the mountainous and valley regions in Dang. While the rain, coupled with cold weather, delights tourists, it raises concerns among farmers over potential crop losses.

Unseasonal rainfall was also reported in Valsad district, with downpours in villages such as Avdha and Rajpuri in Dharampur taluka. Gorakhada and Mohpada also witnessed rainfall, leaving farmers anxious about their crops. Although most parts of Gujarat remain dry, the sudden weather change has significantly impacted districts in South Gujarat.

Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) did not predict rain in its daily updates, forecasting dry weather across the state. However, meteorological expert Ambalal Patel had anticipated the shift, citing moisture from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal as contributing factors starting December 5. He forecasted cloudy weather and light showers in central and southern Gujarat, with more rainfall expected between December 15 and 17 and the possibility of light rain continuing toward the month’s end.
