28 bridges on National Highways in Gujarat identified for reconstruction / rehabilitation / repair

Ahmedabad: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has identified 28 bridges on National Highways across Gujarat for reconstruction, rehabilitation, or repair, stated the central government on Friday.

In a reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing session of Parliament, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari said, “Maintenance and development of National Highways (NHs) including bridges thereon is a continuous process. Accordingly, repair/rehabilitation/reconstruction of existing distressed bridges are taken up on annual basis depending upon condition of bridges, their functional and other requirements and inter-se-priority. Repair/rehabilitation/reconstruction of such bridges are taken up either on standalone basis or as part of improvement/upgradation of a section of NH. The details of distressed bridges on NHs in Maharashtra & Gujarat identified for reconstruction/rehabilitation/repair are at Annexure-I. The details of bridges which have been repaired/reconstructed during the last five years and till date in Maharashtra & Gujarat are at Annexure-II.”
