CM Bhupendra Patel performs groundbreaking and dedicates various projects of Gujarat HC

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, along with Supreme Court Justice Suryakant, today performed the groundbreaking and inauguration of various projects, including 21 court buildings at the Gujarat High Court. Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal, Law and Justice Minister Rushikesh Patel, and other distinguished personalities were also present at the event.

The groundbreaking ceremony for 21 new court buildings at the Gujarat High Court marked a significant step in enhancing judicial infrastructure. This was followed by the foundation stone laying for an additional administrative building for staff and records, the Gujarat High Court IT Cell Building, and a new recreation center at the Gujarat State Judicial Academy. The event also saw the release of the GujHC Vision Document Version 1.0. Additionally, the virtual inauguration of the Digital Hybrid Hearing Platform for Family Courts with Remote Adjudication in jurisdictional taluka courts took place. Furthermore, an e-filing platform for Negotiable Instrument (NI) cases was launched, offering statewide access to the Remote Adjudication System (SARAS) under the Court Establishment of CJM, Ahmedabad City. The occasion also witnessed the release of Nyay Setu, the newsletter of the Gujarat High Court.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it a goal to strengthen the judiciary by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and ensuring that judicial buildings are equipped with modern technology. He expressed the state government’s commitment not only to building judicial infrastructure but also to providing advanced facilities to judges and court staff. The Chief Minister emphasized that the judiciary, executive, and legislature are the pillars of good governance, and law and order, along with the judicial system, play a significant role in the development and good governance of any nation or state.

Chief Minister Patel stated that projects worth ₹133 crore were inaugurated and sealed today at the Gujarat High Court.

He mentioned that the Gujarat High Court began at Akashvani Bhawan, Navrangpura, when Gujarat became a separate state in 1960. Over the years, the state has progressed, with the current state-of-the-art Gujarat High Court facility located in Sola.

“The state government has always worked towards providing advanced facilities to judges and court staff, including the construction of new court-related buildings,” he said.

The Chief Minister further emphasized that the state has aligned its efforts with Prime Minister Modi’s infrastructure development mission by ensuring the functioning of Principal Civil Judge courts in every taluka station across Gujarat.

He underscored the importance of law and order, the judiciary, and good governance in the development of any state. “The judiciary, executive, and legislature are the pillars of democracy and good governance. Proper coordination among them ensures effective governance and the delivery of speedy justice,” he noted.

The Chief Minister added that the state government is committed to supporting the judiciary by providing necessary resources, as reflected in the increased financial allocation for the law department—from ₹1,698 crore in 2021-22 to ₹2,586 crore in 2024-25.

Supreme Court Justice Suryakant, speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of the judiciary in nation-building and the need for strong judicial infrastructure and technological advancements. He applauded the Gujarat High Court’s leadership in digitizing the judiciary, stressing that the state is progressing rapidly in implementing technology and infrastructure to support the judicial system.

Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal noted that improved infrastructure enhances the efficiency of judicial processes. She praised the state government’s proactive approach in laying the foundations for new buildings and projects and providing timely support for the health facilities of judicial employees.

Justice Biren Vaishnav highlighted that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, is committed to providing all necessary infrastructure to strengthen the judicial system.

The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Gujarat High Court judges, officers, employees, and members of the Bar Council. DeshGujarat
