Adopt ethical behavior if you want to sleep peacefully at night: Gujarat CM

Gandhinagar: “If we want to live in peace and happiness, we should adopt ethical behavior in such a way that we can sleep peacefully at night,” said Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today. The CM was addressing the International Anti-Corruption Day event in the state capital. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi was also present at the event.

The Chief Minister urged everyone to move forward with strong willpower and determination in the fight against corruption. He stated that corruption has two aspects—corruption and conduct. When a person seeks shortcuts to gain more than what is rightfully theirs, they lose their morality and foster corruption.

“We must break this prevailing atmosphere and strengthen the fight against corruption with resolve,” said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister was addressing a program organized by the State Government’s Anti-Corruption Bureau in Gandhinagar on International Anti-Corruption Day.

During the program, the Chief Minister, along with Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and Chief Secretary Rajkumar, honored 10 citizens who supported the ACB in the fight against corruption under the CARE program. The CARE program was launched in 2024 to encourage the participation of common people in the fight against corruption.

“The country’s economy has moved from 11th to 5th in the world. Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India the third-largest economy by 2047 is a testament to the power of an individual’s will to bring about change,” CM added.

The CM also encouraged the ACB team, stating, “Fight corruption with teamwork and without hesitation. The state government will stand by you.” While explaining the essence of duty and morality, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of living a positive life, rooted in ethics and morality, to attain peace of mind and sleep soundly at night.

MoS Home Harsh Sanghvi congratulated the entire Anti-Corruption Bureau team for their efforts in the fight against bribery, noting that bribery is a major obstacle to development in society. He added that it damages the values of justice, equality, and transparency, as well as harms citizens’ interests.

Sanghvi also mentioned that since Bhupendra Patel assumed office as Chief Minister, the ACB team has been empowered to take strict action against corrupt officials, resulting in the highest number of corruption cases being dealt with in Gujarat.

He appreciated the ACB’s work in ensuring justice for the poor and common citizens of society, stating that every citizen who approaches the ACB does so after enduring multiple hardships, with the confidence that their complaint will be addressed fairly and without bias.

Sanghvi assured citizens that the Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau will continue to work with increased strength and will ensure justice for the public by punishing those involved in corruption.

The Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Shamshere Singh, mentioned that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and ensured that corrupt officials are caught and justice is delivered to the complainants. The CARE program has been launched to curb corruption in the state, and over 1864 complainants have been contacted directly, obtaining suggestions and representations from them.

Students from schools in Gujarat who won first, second, and third place in the essay competition organized by the ACB were also honored by the Chief Minister. DeshGujarat
