ACB Gujarat nabs senior clerk of R&B Dept in bribery case

Rajkot: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today booked Ravi Majethia, a Senior Clerk (Class-3) working at the office of the Executive Engineer in the Roads and Buildings Department in Rajkot, in a bribery case involving a sum of ₹5,000.

According to the ACB, the complainant, a government servant posted in Rajkot, had applied for a government quarter in the office of the accused about five months ago. However, the complainant had not been allotted a quarter until now. To obtain the rent allowance as per government standards, the complainant needed to acquire a certificate stating that no government quarters were available in Rajkot from the accused’s office. When the complainant met the accused in person, he demanded a bribe of ₹5,000 in exchange for issuing the certificate.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant contacted the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Based on the complaint, a sting operation was arranged, during which the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the ₹5,000 bribe. DeshGujarat
