Former Gujarat Informatics Ltd employee held in DA case by ACB
December 13, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Gandhinagar, arrested Ruchi Bhavsar, a former executive accountant of Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL), on Thursday in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. The investigation, initiated in June, revealed that Bhavsar had unlawfully amassed assets worth Rs 4.07 crore—an amount 624.43% higher than her lawful income.
According to ACB officials, Bhavsar earned Rs 65.31 lakh between May 1, 2017, and May 31, 2022, but spent Rs 4.73 crore on properties and other investments under her and her dependents’ names. The bureau’s inquiry uncovered evidence from bank accounts, property documents, and government records, confirming Bhavsar’s involvement in corrupt practices to amass wealth illegally.
The case is linked to a 2017 incident where Bhavsar and her assistant, Vikrant Kansara, were arrested by the Gandhinagar local crime branch following the uncovering of financial irregularities worth Rs 28.31 lakh during an audit. In June 2024, Tansukh Dhakhan, GIL’s accounts manager, filed a complaint alleging Rs 7 crore worth of misappropriation. Investigations found that Bhavsar and others diverted funds from 16 banking transactions into unauthorised accounts, misusing their positions for personal gain. DeshGujarat
