Rajkot: Industrial Safety & Health Department has ordered Gopal Snack Ltd, also known as Gopal Namkeen, to halt production at their factory. This comes after a fire incident that took place at the Gopal Snack Ltd factory located in Metoda GIDC last week, reportedly due to a short circuit.

The Industrial Safety & Health Department has launched an investigation into the incident, and further action will be taken after receiving the report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Meanwhile, N.R. Chaudhari, the Joint Director at Industrial Safety & Health, Rajkot, has ordered the company to halt production until the structural stability certificate report is obtained by the company.

According to the order, once the structural stability certificate report is submitted, the department will verify whether the report is accurate. There is no specific deadline for submitting the report. Generally, this report is submitted by a third party as per regulations. After submission, the department will examine whether the report adheres to policies and regulations.

In another development, it has come to light that, two days prior to the fire at the factory, the CGST department had issued a notice to Gopal Snacks in a tax evasion case, directing the payment of Rs. 13.50 crore in taxes. The CGST team has also begun an investigation into income, transactions, and buying and selling records, in which some purchases were made in cash, and disclosure was requested.
