Gujarat govt extends deadline for impact fee payment
December 17, 2024
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has extended the deadline to pay the impact fees. The Urban Development Department, through a notification on Monday, granted a six-month extension to the Government Regularisation of Unauthorised Development Act (GRUDA). Initially set to expire on 16 December 2024, the new deadline for submitting applications and paying the required impact fee is now 17 June 2025. This extension marks the fifth consecutive one under the Act.
GRUDA, introduced as a corrective measure, allows property owners to pay an impact fee instead of facing demolition for unauthorised constructions. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has received 68,988 applications across seven municipal zones so far. Of these, over 18,000 cases have been processed and regularised, resulting in a revenue increase of Rs 200 crore for AMC. However, the process has faced hurdles, with more than 35,000 applications rejected and an additional 14,000 still pending. DeshGujarat
