Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRCL) has launched beta version of the “Ahmedabad Metro (Official)” mobile app to facilitate online ticket booking for Ahmedabad Metro travel.

The app is available on the Play Store, and after installing it, travelers will be able to book Metro train tickets from the comfort of their homes or anywhere else. The ticket is generated in the form of a QR code on the mobile app, which must be scanned at the entry gate of the metro station to travel. The mobile app also provides information about fare inquiries, metro stations and their facilities, tourist places in Ahmedabad city, and more. It is noteworthy that the app available on the Play Store is a beta version and has not been officially launched. However, tickets are being booked, and they are valid for travel purposes. When contacted, the GMRC source confirmed that the app is authentic and released by them, but the official launch will take place later.

How to Book Tickets on the App

To book tickets on the official metro app, passengers need to click on “Book Ticket,” select the stations between which they want to travel, and then choose the ticket type. After confirming the ticket, the date and fare will be displayed. By clicking on the online payment option, passengers can make a payment via UPI or other methods, and once the payment is completed, the ticket will be generated. The passengers can book Metro tickets using the app and make payment using debit cards, credit cards, and UPI.

Passengers will have the option to generate single-journey tickets, return-journey tickets, or group-journey tickets. The generated ticket can then be scanned at the metro station for entry. Customers will also be able to view their booked tickets within the app.

The iOS version of the app will be available on the iOS platform from 23 December.

Passengers should note that online tickets will be valid only for two hours after booking. Before booking a ticket, passengers are advised to check the train schedule. DeshGujarat
