Surat police seize banned Chinese kite thread worth Rs. 11.52 lakh, arrest one

Surat: In a major crackdown ahead of Uttarayan, the Dindoli police seized a large container of synthetic (Chinese) manja, worth ₹11.52 lakh. One individual, identified as 32-year-old Anilkumar Shankarlal Meena, who was driving the container, was also arrested in connection with the seizure. The sender and consignor of the illegal goods have been declared wanted.

It is learned that the operation was carried out by DCP Bhagirath Gadhvi’s squad, which had set up surveillance near Dindoli Sai Point on Thursday night. The squad received a tip-off that a large shipment of Chinese manja was being transported from Pandesara Pramukh Park Bridge towards Godadara in an Eicher tempo.

The police intercepted the container and found 60 boxes containing a total of 2,880 bobbins of Chinese manja. In addition to the seizure, the police also confiscated the truck, valued at ₹10 lakh.

The arrested driver, Anilkumar Shankarlal Meena, revealed that the manja had been loaded by a person named Pramod Master from Pandesara and was to be delivered to Ahmedabad. The police have launched a manhunt for Pramod Master and the person who had ordered the goods.
