AMC halts proposal to buy 260 electric buses due to fire incidents
December 28, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has temporarily halted its proposal to procure 260 electric buses due to recent incidents of buses catching fire.
Devang Dani, chairman of AMC’s Standing Committee, has requested a detailed report from Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd (AJL), which operates AMTS, to identify the causes behind these frequent fire incidents. During a meeting with AJL on Friday, Dani emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority and clarified that the procurement of new buses would proceed only after the manufacturer, JBM, submits a comprehensive safety report.
Once the report is reviewed, a decision regarding the purchase of new buses will be made. Consequently, the matter has been postponed for now. DeshGujarat
