80 villages of Kadana and Khanpur to get water supply via 130 km pipeline project

Mahisagar: To ensure easy access to clean drinking water for the people of Kadana and Khanpur areas in Mahisagar district, the Water Supply Department is preparing a scheme at Andhari Navagam in the Kadana Dam catchment area. This plan will provide drinking water facilities to a total of 80 villages, including 63 villages in the northern part of Kadana Taluka and 17 villages in Khanpur.

The Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board is constructing this group water supply scheme at an estimated cost of Rs. 72.88 crore, which is expected to be completed by June 2025. This project will benefit 107,293 people in 80 villages. Currently, work is in full swing for the intake well in the catchment area between Kadana Dam, Sujalam Suflam, and Sedal Dam under the Andhari Navagam group scheme. A filter with a capacity of 8.6 MLD will be built at Jambunala, and a water tank with a capacity of 21 lakh liters will be constructed at Amthani. Additionally, a 130-kilometer pipeline will be laid, and individual connections will be provided in 37 villages.

The work for this project is expected to be completed within the next 6 months. Initially, water will be filtered at Jambunala and then conveyed to the 21 lakh-liter tank at Amthani, from where it will be supplied to 80 villages in two different talukas through pipelines. DeshGujarat
