Ahmedabad Airport Police Book Woman for Using Forged Passport for International Travel
January 03, 2025
Ahmedabad : The Airport Police have registered a case against Kavita Patel from Mehsana for allegedly using a stolen and forged passport to travel abroad.
According to the FIR, Kavita presented an Indian passport (P1944937), issued in Atlanta, USA, and valid until August 8, 2032, during immigration checks on August 22, 2024. Upon inspection, the passport details matched those of Ishfaque Alam from Nawada, Bihar, who had reported his passport missing on December 20, 2021.
Authorities seized Patel’s passport for verification. An inquiry with the Regional Passport Office in Ahmedabad confirmed that passport P1944937 had originally been issued to Alam. Further investigation revealed that Patel had traveled to the USA using her original passport (K7743539) from Mumbai airport. Later, she obtained the forged passport through an unidentified agent in Atlanta.
The woman has been booked under BNS sections 336(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2), and 54. The investigation is ongoing to trace the agent and verify Patel’s claims.
Although the incident occurred in August 2024, the FIR was filed on Wednesday after official communication regarding the matter was received, the police stated. DeshGujarat
