Protest in another South Gujarat village Over Religious Conversion Allegations

Surat: Tensions flared in Mandan village, near Vankal, as local villagers protested an event organized by the Indian National Full Gospel Church. Allegations were raised by the villagers that the event was part of a religious conversion agenda orchestrated by missionaries. The protest, led by the Dev Birsa Sena, culminated in a formal memorandum being presented to the Mamlatdar, demanding the cancellation of permission for the event.

The villagers, claimed that the church event was aimed at converting the local tribal population to Christianity. In their memorandum, they requested that the Mamlatdar take immediate action to stop the event, citing the potential harm it could do to the cultural and religious integrity of the community.

Despite these objections, the Mamlatdar chose to uphold the permission granted for the event. As a result, the Full Gospel Church’s gathering proceeded as scheduled, though it was guarded by local police to prevent any potential disturbances.

The protest intensified as locals, including Jivanbhai Chaudhary, the village Sarpanch, voiced their concerns and joined in the demonstration. Chanting slogans such as “Jay Adivasi” and “Jay Dev Mogra Mataji,” led by Arvind Vasava, the chief of the Dev Birsa Sena, the protestors made it clear that they were opposed to what they believed were tactics of religious conversion.

The event, which was held under security, continued despite the growing opposition. It highlighted the ongoing debate surrounding religious conversions by Christian missionaries in tribal areas. DeshGujarat
