January 10, 2025
Mahisagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed a Deputy Mamlatdar and Circle Officer of Sukhsar village from the Mamlatdar’s Office in Fatepura in a bribe case involving ₹5,000.
According to the ACB, the complainant, who required a property-related certificate (દારીપણાનો દાખલો), visited the Mamlatdar office in Fatepura to obtain the document. The complainant’s property was registered under the name of his uncle’s child, so he was advised to submit an application with the required documents. The complainant did so on 25/10/2024, but after a month had passed, the document was still not received.
Upon visiting the Mamlatdar office again, the complainant met the accused, Manthan Kumar Parmar (31), who claimed that some of the documents had gone missing. He promised to find them and update the complainant later. However, on 07/01/2025, when the complainant visited again, the accused informed him that the application needed corrections and that a new ₹50 stamp would be required. He also demanded ₹5,000 in exchange for processing the document.
Reluctant to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Mahisagar Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Based on his complaint, a trap was set, and during the operation, the accused demanded and accepted the ₹5,000 bribe in the presence of ACB officials. The accused was subsequently arrested.
