CBSE issues show-cause notices to 2 Ahmedabad schools weeks after surprise inspection
January 17, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued show-cause notices to two schools in the city, along with 27 others across the nation. This action comes about a month after the board conducted surprise inspections on December 18-19 at affiliated schools nationwide to ensure compliance with educational standards and board regulations.
The schools inspected in Ahmedabad were Nirman High School in Vastrapur and The New Tulip International School in Bopal. Both schools were found to be among the majority that violated the board’s affiliation by-laws. These schools have now been issued show-cause notices and must respond within 30 days.
The board discovered widespread violations, including inflated enrolment figures showing “non-attending” students and failure to comply with infrastructural norms. Libraries, computer labs, and classrooms were inspected, and discrepancies such as mismatched bench counts and student records were identified.
“CBSE has taken these breaches seriously and issued show-cause notices to the defaulting schools. Legal action is also under consideration,” the board stated.
