Gujarat govt approves fifty percent State share for widening of Kalupur and Sarangpur bridges

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval to allocate Rs 220 crore under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme as the state government’s 50 percent share for the four-lane works of Kalupur and Sarangpur railway overbridges at a cost of Rs 440 crore under the Kalupur Railway Station Redevelopment Project.

The Kalupur Railway Over Bridge at Ahmedabad Railway Station was constructed 108 years ago in 1915 and the Salangpur Railway Over Bridge was constructed 83 years ago in 1940. Currently, the Kalupur Railway Over Bridge (Manu Bhai Parmar Bridge) is three-lane with footpaths on both sides and the Sarangpur Railway Over Bridge is two-lane wide.

Keeping in mind the life span and safety of these bridges as well as the increasing traffic load, the reconstruction of both the bridges by demolishing them and making them four-lane will be done by the Railway Land Development Authority.

In addition, the Chief Minister has allocated Rs 52.83 crore for the construction of a new overbridge at the existing railway crossing LC-100-2E on Radhanpur city and Bhilot road.

The construction of the approved overbridge on this road connecting Radhanpur-Bhilot-Suigam will make it easier for citizens to transport goods and travel. DeshGujarat
