Power Cut Halted Trains Between Surat and Navsari for Over an Hour

Surat: Train services between Surat and Navsari were  disrupted for over an hour on Tuesday afternoon due to a power outage affecting the overhead electric wires that power the trains.

The disruption occurred when the power supply to the overhead wires, which provide electricity to trains running between Navsari and Surat, was suddenly cut off. This resulted in the halting of several trains, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Nine trains, including the Suryanagari Express, Saurashtra Express, Bandra-Haridwar Express, and Kerala Express, were held up at various stations including Navsari, Bilimora, Valsad, Vedchha, Sachin, and Maroli.

The train services were brought to a standstill from 3 PM to 4:16 PM, causing significant delays. Railway officials immediately launched an investigation into the cause of the power failure. Engineers from the electric department were dispatched to the site to conduct repairs and restore the power supply.

The disruption forced railway authorities to inform stations further down the line, including Mumbai, to hold trains until the power was restored. Passengers traveling from Mumbai towards Surat faced delays as trains were stopped at various stations along the route.

After repair work was completed, train services gradually resumed normal operation. However, most trains were running late by approximately one and a half to two hours.

Railway officials are investigating the exact cause of the power outage to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. DeshGujarat
