Gujarat SGST dept conducts searches at 14 businesses selling goods without bills

Surat: Continuing its endeavor to check tax evasion, that is, sales without invoices, the Gujarat State Tax Department conducted searches on the 21st of January, 2025, at the premises of 14 taxpayers operating in different sectors, including chemicals, gift articles and toys, electronics, beauty parlors, and manpower supply, the State GST Department said in a press note.
Out of 14 taxpayers, 8 were located in Ahmedabad, 3 in Surat, 2 in Vapi, and 1 in Vyara.
During the operations, several irregularities, such as concealed sales and underreporting of tax liability, were noticed. Preliminary assessments indicate that the quantum of tax evasion is likely to be around Rs. 9.11 crores.
Appropriate legal action to secure and realize government revenue is being pursued by the State Tax Department. DeshGujarat
