Ahmedabad: The under-construction sports complex in the Naranpura area of the city will be named Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, the standing committee of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) decided during a meeting on Thursday.

The committee also sanctioned an increase in the project’s estimated cost, resulting in significant additional expenditure. Initially budgeted at ₹564 crore, the cost has now escalated to ₹731.37 crore, reflecting an increase of ₹167.37 crore.

It has been ascertained that the cost escalation is primarily due to frequent revisions in construction plans. Additionally, an extra ₹30 crore will be allocated to the contractor under price variation adjustments, bringing the total project cost to ₹761.37 crore. DeshGujarat
