Ahmedabad: The annual budget of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for the year 2025-26 has been approved by the standing committee of the civic body. Under this ₹15,502 crore budget, ₹100 crore has been provisioned for the development of Kharikat Canal Phase-2 in Ghodasar, Isanpur, Lambha, Vatva, and Danilimda wards.
The budget states, “It has been resolved that the 102-year-old Kharikat Canal, which passes through the eastern and southern zones of Ahmedabad, overflows every monsoon, leading to frequent complaints about garbage dumping. Ahmedabad city authorities submitted a detailed report to Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, who promptly took action to address the issue.”
‘To alleviate the hardships faced by residents of these three zones during the monsoon, the canal is being developed in five phases at an estimated cost of ₹1,338 crore. Work has already begun on four out of five packages and is expected to be completed within two years. To support this, ₹100 crore has been allocated in the budget,” it added. DeshGujarat
