Gujarat govt, L&T ink MoU to set up Construction Skill Training Institute (CSTI) in Vadnagar

Vadnagar: A MoU was signed today between the State Government’s Department of Labour, Skill Development, and Employment and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the state capital. Under this MoU, L&T will establish a Construction Skill Training Institute (CSTI) in Vadnagar, North Gujarat. The state government’s Department of Labour, Skill Development, and Employment will allocate 10 acres of land for this institute.

L&T will invest approximately ₹22 crore in the construction of the institute’s building, which will be set up in Vadnagar, the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The investment will also cover infrastructure development and facilities, including accommodation and meals for trainees, under its CSR initiative.

Labour, Employment, and Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput and Principal Secretary Dr. Vinod Rao were present at the MoU signing ceremony.

This institute will play a crucial role in equipping youth with construction technology skills for various mega projects, including the Dharoi Dam development and Bharatmala projects in North Gujarat.

The Vadnagar training institute will particularly benefit youth from Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Mehsana, and Patan districts. It will offer short-term courses such as Structural and Finishing Technician, Smart Cities Technician (CCTV and OFC), Solar and Transmission Line Tower Erection Technician, and Fire Life Safety Technician. Accommodation and meals will also be provided during training. More than 1,000 youth will benefit from these courses annually.

On behalf of the state government, Gujarat State Skill Development Mission Director Shri K.D. Lakhani and L&T Vice President HR Shri J. Kabilan exchanged and signed the MoU. DeshGujarat
