February 17, 2025
Gandhinagar: Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) today announced that if any of its employees die during service, their family will be provided Rs. 14 lakh in assistance.
An official press statement says that the employees of the ST Corporation consistently work with dedication, without taking holidays, to transport passengers from one destination to another. Therefore, the state government has decided to provide Rs. 14 lakh in assistance to the dependent family of any ST Corporation worker in case of death during service.
Previously, the dependent families of Class-3 and Class-4 regular employees who died in service were provided lump sum amounts of Rs. 4 lakh, Rs. 5 lakh, and Rs. 6 lakh, depending on the remaining period of the employee’s service. Additionally, a lump sum of Rs. 4 lakh was paid to the dependent families of Class-3 and Class-4 employees on a five-year fixed salary contract.
With this new decision, in the event of the death of Class-3 and Class-4 employees appointed through the regular recruitment process on or after 24 September 2022, financial assistance of Rs. 14 lakh will be given to the dependent family of the deceased employee. Similarly, financial assistance of Rs. 14 lakh will be provided to the dependent family of deceased Class-3 and Class-4 employees on five-year fixed salary contracts.
It is worth mentioning that the dependent families of 153 Class-3 and Class-4 employees, appointed through the regular recruitment process of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, as well as employees appointed on a five-year fixed salary contractual service, who died during their service on or after 12 October 2023, will receive assistance totaling more than Rs. 21 crore from the state government. As per the old scheme, the dependent families of 124 employees have already been provided Rs. 5 crore 32 lakh by the state government, and the remaining assistance will be provided shortly, as further mentioned in the GSRTC’s official statement.
