Gujarat to set up Gujarat Institute of Technology and Gujarat International Education City

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government plans to establish Gujarat Institute of Technology (GIT), modelled on the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Rs. 100 crore allocation has been made to establish GIT in the budget for FY 2025 presented by Finance minister Kanubhai Desai on February 20th.
The budget of Education department also mentions provision for setting up the Gujarat International Education City. The budget drafts also mentions provision of Edu-City in Surat’s HSR Zone as suggested in the Economic Master Plan for Surat Economic Reasion. Rs. 1 crore allocation is made for this purpose in the budget.
Like previous years, Education department has found highest allocation (Rs. 60,000 crore around) in the State budget. DeshGujarat
