February 22, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Ahmedabad-North Commissionerate has busted a GST evasion scam. As part of the tax evasion tactics, a partnership firm named Gayatri Abrasive allegedly sold goods worth Rs 37 crore without issuing bills. Due to this clearing of goods without invoices, GST amounting to Rs 7.07 crore was evaded. The main accused in the case has been arrested and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
The GST department carried out a search at Gayatri Abrasive’s premises on February 19, during which electronic records of unaccounted clearances of grindstones, hand tools, and other goods since 2021-22 came to light. One of the partners of the firm was apprehended on Wednesday after he admitted to the evasion operation. He has been remanded to custody, and a further probe is ongoing. DeshGujarat
