Rajkot: A tragic accident took place in Rajkot’s Kewdawadi area late last night when an over-speeding bike lost balance after hitting a speed breaker and crashed into a pillar. Two cousins were riding the bike, and the minor sitting behind succumbed to injuries during treatment. The CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral.
The horrific accident occurred at 12:30 am in the Kewdawadi area of the city when two cousins, who worked as drummers in an orchestra party, were returning home from work. Approaching a speed breaker at high speed, they lost control of the bike, which caused it to bounce and crash into a pillar, throwing both riders onto the road. Both sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment, where the minor later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the rider was Sumit Parmar (20), while the pillion rider was Paresh Mukeshbhai Sekhlia (15). Both were cousins and worked as drummers. While returning home from the Bhagwatipara area after completing their work, they met with the accident. The teenager passed away early in the morning while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Tushar Sumera told the media that both speed breakers in the area were constructed with official permission based on local demands. However, a site visit will be conducted to assess whether the speed breaker should be removed. Additionally, if the white stripes on the speed breaker have faded, necessary measures will be taken, including repainting them. DeshGujarat
