ACB Gujarat nabs Central GST inspector in bribery case

Rajkot: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a Class 2 officer, Ram Bharatlal Meena, posted as a GST Inspector at the Central GST Office, Rajkot, in a bribery case involving a sum of ₹5,000.
According to the ACB, the complainant provides GST-related services. The accused officer demanded a bribe of ₹5,000 from the complainant to approve the GST registration number for a private company after online registration.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. During a bribery trap set at the accused’s office, the accused engaged in a purposeful conversation with the complainant, reiterated the bribe demand, accepted the amount, and was caught red-handed misusing his position as a public servant.
