Maximum temperatures soar above 40°C in several cities of Gujarat; Rajkot hottest at 43.0°C

Gandhinagar: Several parts of Gujarat witnessed intense heat on Friday, with temperatures staying above the 40°C mark in cities like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar. According to the weather report issued at 8:30 AM today, Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature at a scorching 43.0°C, 3.1 degrees above normal.
Ahmedabad followed closely with a maximum temperature of 41.7°C, 1.0 degree above normal, while Bhuj sizzled at 41.5°C, registering a 2.4-degree departure from normal. Other cities like Amreli (41.1°C) and Deesa (40.5°C) also experienced severe heat.
Mercury, however, provided some relief to Barodians, dipping below 40°C and settling at 39.4°C, while Surat recorded 35.8°C given its coastal location. The Indian Meteorological Department, in its latest forecast, stated that after 2-3 days, the maximum temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 degrees. However, as of now, no heatwave warning has been issued by the department.
Humidity levels varied widely across the state. Coastal cities like Veraval (90%), Dwarka (88%), and Diu (84%) reported high morning humidity, while interior areas such as Dahod (51%) remained relatively dry.
