15 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants Detained in Bharuch
April 28, 2025
Bharuch: While the Pakistani nationals are being sent back to their country in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, the Gujarat police have also launched a large-scale operation to identify and deport individuals who have illegally infiltrated from Bangladesh. As part of this initiative, 15 Bangladeshis were arrested from Bharuch district, and efforts have been made to send them back.
The terror attack that targeted Hindus in Pahalgam left 27 dead, after which the central government revoked visas issued to Pakistani nationals and asked them to return to their country. Following this, one Saiyda Bibi, who had come to visit her brother in Hansot, was taken to the Attari border from where she was sent back to Pakistan.
Under the crackdown on the illegal Bangladeshis living in the state, around 890 Bangladeshis were nabbed in Ahmedabad and 134 were arrested in Surat. The process of their deportation has begun. The probe revealed that 590 Indian passports were issued to these illegal Bangladeshis in the past two years, who used forged documents to get Indian passports. DeshGujarat
