Customs appoints 5 superintendents, 9 inspectors at Rajkot Airport
May 05, 2025
Rajkot: With Rajkot International Airport in Hirasar now notified for 24×7 operations to facilitate the emergency landings of international flights after Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian airliners, the Jamnagar Customs has deployed staff at the Greenfield airport on a war footing. Five superintendents and nine customs inspectors have been appointed for a period of three months.
The deployment comes in anticipation of possible emergency landings, particularly of Middle East- and Gulf-bound flights that are now being forced to take longer routes due to airspace restrictions imposed by both India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 Hindu tourists.
A Deputy Commissioner has been assigned to oversee customs operations at Hirasar. Additionally, a dedicated X-ray baggage screening system has been installed at the airport to ensure quick and efficient customs clearance in case of such emergency landings. DeshGujarat
