Income certificates under RTE to be verified across Gujarat; FIR filed in Narmada: Govt
May 05, 2025
Narmada: Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, the process for allocating free admission to children on 25 percent of seats in Standard 1 for the academic year 2025–26 is currently underway through the online web portal. The first round of online admission allocation was announced on April 28, 2025.
The Office of the Director of Primary Education is actively working to ensure that admissions reach genuinely needy, disadvantaged, and underprivileged children. During this process, income certificates submitted by certain applicants in Narmada district during the first round were found to be suspicious. These documents, claiming low income, were forwarded to the Taluka-level officer (Talatishri) for verification. Upon investigation, several of these certificates were found to contain forged signatures and stamps. Consequently, the Talatishri of Narmada district has filed an FIR at the concerned police station against the individuals involved.
Going forward, the income certificates of applicants across Gujarat who secured RTE admissions by submitting income proofs of ₹50,000 or less will be verified through the issuing offices. If any cases of forged documents are detected, admissions will be cancelled at the district level in accordance with the rules, stated a release from the Office of the Director of Primary Education, Gandhinagar.
