Surat Police deploys ATVs for patrolling at Dumas, Suvali beaches
May 05, 2025
Surat: In a bid to boost safety at the popular Dumas and Suvali beaches of the city, the Surat City Police has deployed modern All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) for patrolling. The initiative aims to strengthen surveillance during weekends, public holidays, and vacation seasons, when tourist footfall surges.
Funded through public contributions, each ATV is worth ₹2.05 lakh and is capable of navigating sandy and uneven terrains with ease. Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot flagged off the two ATVs on Sunday during a beach cleaning drive at Dumas, where he also took a ride to mark the rollout. Each beach has been assigned one ATV to enable swift and effective monitoring in areas inaccessible to conventional patrols. DeshGujarat
