Over ₹7,864 crore aid disbursed to around 1.3 lakh MSMEs in last 5 years: Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government today announced that it has extended financial aid exceeding ₹7,864 crore to over 1.3 lakh micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) between 2020–21 and 2024–25 through various schemes. The assistance comprises capital investment subsidies, interest subventions, and credit guarantee support.

The state also leads the country in the number of Zero Effect Zero Defect (ZED) certified MSMEs. Over 89,000 MSMEs have enrolled under the ZED scheme, with more than 59,000 already certified.

Under the 2015 industrial policy, Gujarat disbursed ₹137 crore against 4,400 claims between April 1, 2024, and January 8, 2025. Under the 2020 policy, over ₹345 crore was released to 8,700 claims. Additionally, the Aatmanirbhar Gujarat scheme, launched in 2022, provided ₹245 crore to 2,400 enterprises.

Since 2020, Gujarat has registered 23.79 lakh MSMEs through the Udyam registration platform. To resolve delayed payment cases, six regional MSE Facilitation Councils (MSEFCs) operate in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, and Kutch. In 2024, these councils resolved 1,081 cases.

Gujarat’s MSME landscape is highly diversified, with notable industrial hubs such as Surat (textiles, diamonds), Rajkot (engineering, auto parts), Morbi (ceramics), and Ahmedabad (apparel, machinery). These enterprises range from micro-level units to medium-scale industries with both national and global reach.

The sector plays a vital role in Gujarat’s economy, generating an estimated annual turnover of over ₹3 lakh crore and directly or indirectly employing more than 1.5 crore individuals. With over 23.79 lakh Udyam-registered MSMEs, Gujarat boasts one of India’s most dynamic and productive MSME ecosystems. DeshGujarat
