MGNREGA Scam Accused Assaults Villager Over Alleged Tip-off in Panchmahal

Panchmahal: A man accused in an MGNREGA fund misappropriation case in Panchmahal allegedly bit and assaulted a fellow villager, suspecting him of filing a complaint.

Following the exposure of multi-crore MGNREGA scams in Dahod and Bharuch, similar irregularities were reported in Junidhari village, where a grievance portal complaint alleged fake payments for land leveling and well construction. Three people, including Sandeep Machhi, were named in the complaint.

On Sunday, Sandeep confronted villager Kishan Machhi, dragged him out of his car, bit his finger, and assaulted him on the suspicion that Kishan had filed the complaint against him. Later, when villagers intervened, Sandeep fled after threatening to kill Kishan, who is now hospitalized. DeshGujarat
