Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani’s mortal remains handed over to family

Ahmedabad: The mortal remains of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were handed over to his family today, following confirmation through DNA matching on Sunday evening.
Rupani’s body was handed over to his family at Civil Hospital in the city. His wife, Anjali Rupani, son Rushabh Rupani, daughter Radhika Rupani, along with other family members, senior officials, and political leaders, offered their final respects. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also paid tribute to his predecessor by laying a wreath on his coffin.
Rupani was among the 241 people who lost their lives when a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff, hitting a BJ Medical College hostel complex near SVPI Airport. His mortal remains are now being transported to Rajkot, where they will be kept at his residence. The final rites are scheduled to take place after 5 PM. Rupani served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021.
