Ahmedabad: Delhi Police have booked two Gujarat residents for allegedly travelling with forged documents after they were deported from the United States earlier this month.

In the first case, Mahesh Patel from Mehsana arrived at IGI Airport on July 9. During immigration checks, officers detected several irregularities in his Indian passport. On questioning, Mahesh admitted that he had procured the passport through an agent to unlawfully enter the US.

In the second case, Jignesh Patel from Shahpur arrived at IGI Airport on July 7 via flight AA-292, travelling on an emergency certificate. However, immigration records showed no evidence of his departure from India under either of his previous passports. Jignesh claimed he had left the country once in 1998 and again in 2003. However, checks revealed that only a single passport had been issued in his name back in 2002. The mismatch between his claimed travel history and the passport issuance date suggested possible identity fraud or impersonation.
