Gates of Narmada Dam Opened first time in Monsoon 2025; Nearly 90,000 cusecs ouflow

Kevadiya: The gates of Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam were opened today for the first time this year. The dam has above 75 percent storage as of 1 pm today with inflow of over 4.22 lakh cusecs and outflow at over 85,000 cusecs in river and additional 4,190 cusesc in canal. Thus the total outflow is nearly 90,000 cusecs. Do downstream areas of Bharuch district need to worry with this size of outflow? No ! This is a controlled outflow in order to minimize the possibilities of floods in future during the ongoing monsoon season. Total of five gates of Narmada dam are opened today in 2 meters size. Conventionally, the dam achieves full reservoir level of 138.68 m in the month of September. Against the designed capacity of 9460 MCM, the dam has storage of 7151.67 MCM at present. DeshGujarat
