Ahmedabad: The local police, along with a team from Wagh Bakri Tea Group, on Saturday seized 1,175 counterfeit tea packets carrying the brand’s label from a grocery store in the Odhav area. Two suspects were arrested, and a search is ongoing for a third.
As per the police, Jainam Shah (32), the company’s legal manager and a resident of Krishnanagar, had been assigned to take legal action against sellers of counterfeit goods. During a routine market inspection near Chhotalal ni Chali in Odhav, Shah and two other representatives from the company found that Ambika Traders was allegedly selling fake tea packets with Wagh Bakri branding.
They alerted the Odhav police, who soon conducted a raid on the premises. During the raid, the shop owner, Jayprakash Suthar, and another man, Mahesh Dave, were found with three plastic bags containing a total of 1,175 counterfeit tea packets and were arrested.
