Ahmedabad: A major altercation broke out between two groups at the Orient Club in the Ellisbridge area of the city on Tuesday night. The conflict reportedly stemmed from the suspension of the membership of one Bhadreshbhai Shah and his family. The dispute escalated into a physical clash, ultimately reaching the police station. Authorities have since registered an FIR and initiated further investigation.
According to Ajit Patel, President of the Orient Club, “Bhadreshbhai was a member earlier but was suspended. He, along with his family and several others—who could not be identified but are visible in the CCTV footage—stormed the club. One of our committee members, Divyang, was brutally assaulted and even lost consciousness. He has been admitted to the hospital and may have suffered internal injuries.
“We are frightened as they also inquired about other committee members. The club secretary, Mr. Trivedi, was also dragged and beaten. Among those who attacked Trivedi were Bhadreshbhai, possibly his daughter, and others. Mr. Trivedi’s belongings, including a gold chain, watch, and wallet, were allegedly snatched,” he added.
Ajit Patel further stated that despite repeated warnings, Bhadresh continued to engage in objectionable activities, compelling the club to take legal action and suspend him. “No club can tolerate such misconduct,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bhadresh Shah has filed an FIR against Divyang Shah, Rajendra Trivedi, and Raju Narang. In his complaint, Shah stated that when he, along with his wife Hemakshiben (58) and their two children—Bhumil (28) and Hetaben (26)—visited the Orient Club last night, Divyang Shah got into an altercation with his son and daughter.
Shah further alleged that Divyang Shah hurled an RCC block at his son, injuring his leg, which has now been confirmed as fractured by doctors. “Associates of Rajendra Trivedi and Raju Narang, armed with knives and iron pipes, also joined the assault and began attacking the people present. My son was dragged into the restaurant and brutally beaten with wooden sticks. He was hit on the head with a pipe, causing injuries and bleeding,” the FIR states.
Following the complaint, the Ellisbridge police have booked Divyang, Rajendra, and Raju under BNS Sections 117(2), 118, 115(2), 324, 296(b), 351(ns 2), 54, and Section 135(1) of the Gujarat Police Act. A thorough investigation has been launched, and police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the individuals involved in the scuffle. DeshGujarat
