New Delhi: The United States has praised the Gujarat Police for arresting two individuals allegedly running an illegal call centre in Ahmedabad that targeted American citizens through a fraudulent loan scheme.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, the US Embassy commended the prompt action taken by the police in the Hansol area of Ahmedabad.
“The United States applauds the Gujarat state police for their swift arrest of two individuals operating an illegal call center in Hansol, Ahmedabad, targeting American citizens with a fraudulent loan scheme. By seizing evidence and charging the individuals with offenses including cheating and criminal conspiracy, the authorities have sent a clear message against cybercrime. The United States and India are committed to taking decisive action against entities that threaten public safety and security,” the statement said.
Earlier this week, the Airport Police in Ahmedabad had nabbed two individuals for running a fake call centre in Hansol and duping US citizens under the pretext of loan approval. DeshGujarat
