Monsoon on Break in Gujarat; No Heavy Rainfall Expected Till August 15 as per IMD
August 08, 2025
Ahmedabad: Gujarat is currently experiencing a lull in monsoon activity, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stating that no heavy rainfall is expected across the state until August 15. Despite overcast skies and occasional showers, no intense rain spells are forecast for the coming week.
According to the latest seven-day forecast issued on August 8, only light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in various districts of North and South Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, and the Union Territories of Daman, Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
The forecast notes that the monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Ferozpur, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Kheri, Patna, Bankura, Digha, and then extends east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
Since the trough is not aligned over Gujarat or nearby areas, the moisture-laden winds that typically bring widespread rainfall are not concentrated over the state. As a result, Gujarat is experiencing a break in monsoon conditions, with only light to moderate rainfall expected at scattered locations. DeshGujarat
