Vadodara: In a major breach of customer trust, the Zing Restaurant located in the upscale hotel Hyatt Place allegedly served a non-vegetarian dish to a father and son duo despite their vegetarian order. The incident has sparked outrage among patrons and raised questions about the hotel’s conduct.
According to the complainants, they had asked the staff multiple times to confirm whether the dish was vegetarian, and each time the management assured them it was. However, it was later revealed to be non-vegetarian, triggering a heated scene at the restaurant.
Pankaj, the customer, told the media, “Coming to this restaurant in this hotel to have lunch is the biggest mistake of my life. I had told them that I am a vegetarian, yet they served me meat. I was made to eat it without my knowledge. My life feels ruined. After serving the food, they neither gave me the bill nor spoke to me. Instead, I was accused of coming here to blackmail them.” The man broke down in tears while explaining the incident.
His son, Dr. Gitansh Mittal, also spoke out, saying they are strict vegetarians and had clearly instructed the staff to serve only vegetarian food. “Despite this, they served us a non-vegetarian dish. When I questioned it, the staff falsely claimed it was vegetarian. Doubting their word, I went to the kitchen and spoke to the chef, who admitted the mistake. Serving non-vegetarian food during the holy month of Shravan is unacceptable. The staff refused to give us the bill and avoided discussion. This place has no respect for religion or customers’ sentiments, only for making money,” he said.
Following the incident, Gitansh called the police. However, officers advised them to approach the Consumer Protection Court, stating the matter was outside their jurisdiction. They have also filed a complaint with Gotri Police Station, prompting further inquiry. DeshGujarat
