Gujarat gets 5th veterinary college at Himatnagar; admissions to begin next month

Gandhinagar: The Union government has granted approval to start a new Veterinary and Animal Husbandry College at Himatnagar. Admissions for 80 seats in this college will begin next month, i.e., September, for the academic year 2025-26.

The proposal to establish the new Kamdhenu Veterinary College in Himatnagar under Kamdhenu University was submitted to the central government. Following inspection and approval by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), the college has now received permission to commence operations this year.

This will be the fifth veterinary college in Gujarat after Anand, Navsari, Junagadh, and Danta, offering students the opportunity to pursue veterinary studies. Admission will be granted based on NEET scores for candidates who have passed Class 12. Students will be able to pursue Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) and Animal Husbandry degree programs. Recruitment of sufficient staff to start the courses has been completed, including 1 Principal, 4 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 34 Assistant Professors, and 23 non-teaching staff members.

The campus is equipped with modern facilities, and students can benefit from high-quality education at government-standard, low fees, along with on-campus accommodation.

Notably, the state has developed facilities such as health cards for livestock, veterinary health camps, and specialized treatments like cataract operations for animals. The newly established Himatnagar Veterinary College is expected to play a key role in continuing and expanding these initiatives in the future. DeshGujarat
