Adulterated Ghee Seized from Rajkot Dairy Unit
August 20, 2025
Rajkot: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has seized 6,500 kg of ghee and food stock worth about ₹35 lakh from a dairy unit in Rajkot district after confirming adulteration.
The inspection was conducted at M/s Korova Milk Product Private Limited, located near Gomta Chawkadi on NH-8B in Gondal taluka. The action was part of a Special Ghee Surveillance Drive by the Ahmedabad branch of FSSAI under the Western Regional Office, Mumbai.
According to officials, samples collected earlier were tested in an FSSAI-notified laboratory and found sub-standard, confirming the presence of foreign fat in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2011.
The Food Business Operator was informed and given one month to appeal by sending samples to a referral laboratory but did not do so. On August 20, a follow-up inspection was carried out, and all available stock was seized after fresh legal sampling. The new samples have been sent for further laboratory testing.
The Central Licensing Authority will take further legal and regulatory action based on the final test results and investigation. DeshGujarat
