Gandhinagar: To achieve 100% saturation under the Talati-Cum-Minister Housing Scheme for Gram Panchayats, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a grant of ₹489.95 crore for the construction of 2,055 new Gram Panchayat houses across the state.
Recognizing Gram Panchayats as a key and foundational unit of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, the Chief Minister has sanctioned this grant to ensure that every Panchayat has its own Panchayat house.
Every year, the state government’s Panchayat Department allocates funds from the budget for the construction of new Panchayat houses and Talati-Cum-Minister houses in villages where existing Panchayat houses are either dilapidated or absent, with constructions carried out as per requirement.
Accordingly, villages with a population of over 10,000 receive ₹40 lakh, villages with a population between 5,000 and 10,000 receive ₹34.83 lakh, and villages with less than 5,000 people receive ₹25 lakh for the construction of Gram Panchayat houses and Talati-Cum-Minister residences.
For the first time, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a total of ₹489.95 crore for new Panchayat houses in 2,055 villages across the state, based on the population-linked unit cost. As a result, most Gram Panchayats will be able to commence construction of their houses within this year.
Moreover, with modern facilities, these Gram Panchayat offices aim to provide citizens with easy and efficient access to government services at the village level.
Additionally, efforts are underway to achieve 100% saturation in the construction of such Panchayat houses in other villages covered under various Panchayat Department schemes.
Once this initiative is completed, all Gram Panchayats in the state will be equipped with their own Panchayat houses, ensuring that rural citizens receive prompt government services right at their doorstep. DeshGujarat
