Ahmedabad: In what could have led to a major catastrophe, an angle from an under-construction bridge on the SG Highway collapsed this morning, injuring two people. The incident took place around 9:45 AM, causing traffic congestion for nearly half an hour. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and debris from the site is currently being cleared.

Eyewitnesses reported that the busy morning traffic was directly affected when the bridge component fell, hitting vehicles below. One person reportedly suffered more severe injuries.

Local residents and commuters have raised concerns about safety measures at construction sites, questioning why traffic is allowed to pass beneath active bridge works. “The road should have been closed while construction was ongoing. This negligence has led to the accident,” one witness said.
