Gujarat among states affected as India Revokes Grid Access to 17 GW RE Projects
September 09, 2025
New Delhi: India has cancelled grid access for nearly 17 gigawatts (GW) of delayed clean energy projects to prioritise connections for those that are operational or nearing completion, according to a Reuters report.
The state-owned Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd (CTUIL) notified companies including Adani Green Energy, ReNew Power, NTPC, Avaada Group, JSW Energy, and ACME Solar about the cancellations. The affected projects are located in renewable-rich states such as Rajasthan, western Gujarat, and central India.
According to sources, after prior notices were issued to the companies, the permissions were revoked in the June quarter. Meanwhile, the companies are seeking relief from the power regulator, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
Hearing Scheduled for October 7
CTUIL conducted manual inspections before revoking access and plans to continue freeing up transmission lines for projects that are on track for completion.
JSW Energy challenged the revocation, but the regulator denied interim relief in a June 24 order and on July 10 requested a response from CTUIL. The matter is scheduled for hearing on October 7, according to the CERC website. DeshGujarat
