All 17 municipal corporations of Gujarat to get new sports complexes
September 18, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has unveiled plans to develop modern sports complexes in all eight existing and nine newly created municipal corporation areas.
The initiative, driven by the state’s Sports, Youth and Cultural Affairs Department, is part of the “Urban Development Year” celebrations. It is learnt that the plan comes as the government is making an aggressive push to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympic Games.
Ahmedabad is set to be the flagship centre, while new facilities will also be developed across other municipal corporations to encourage broader participation in sports. Officials said international-standard sports complexes are planned in major cities, while smaller corporations and municipalities will get facilities tailored to local requirements. DeshGujarat
