Vadodara: Three individuals accused in the stone-pelting incident at a Garba pandal in the Junagadh area of the city during Navratri have been booked under the Gujarat Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act, 1985 (PASA) and sent to different jails in the state.
The accused, Sahil Malek, Junaid Ahmed Sheikh, and Irfan Sheikh, had been detained earlier. They had allegedly gheraoed the police station and raised slogans. During the stone-pelting incident, two individuals, including a police officer and a journalist, were injured.
The unrest in the area was triggered by a social media post, prompting a crowd to gather at the city police station to lodge a complaint. While dispersing, a group from the crowd allegedly attacked a Navratri pandal, damaged nearby vehicles, and resorted to stone-pelting in the area. Following this, the police detained over 50 people.
Now, PASA has been invoked against three of the accused, taking into account their actions and past criminal history. DeshGujarat
