Ahmedabad Airport introduces new traffic plan to ease congestion at Terminal 2
November 04, 2025
Ahmedabad: To ease traffic congestion outside Terminal 2 (T2) of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, the airport management has rolled out a new traffic circulation plan that separates routes for arriving and departing passengers.
The move comes in response to repeated complaints from passengers and drivers about long queues and bottlenecks at the terminal exit, which often forced them to pay parking charges due to delays.
Under the new plan, all vehicles will continue to access T2 through the same entry point. However, vehicles dropping off departing passengers will now make a U-turn in the same lane and exit directly, while those arriving to pick up passengers will continue to use the designated exit route. Barricades and signboards have been installed to guide drivers through the new system.
The move is expected to ease congestion significantly at the terminal exit, a major choke point during peak hours. Currently, vehicles are allowed a maximum of eight minutes for drop-offs or pick-ups, beyond which parking charges apply. DeshGujarat
